To download a Telegram video on iPhone, open it in the Telegram app and use the app’s own share or save controls. If the channel owner has restricted saving, the option is limited, and no outside tool should be used to get around it. Grabio is a free Shortcut for links from other platforms.

Use the Telegram app. Open the chat or channel, open the video, and look for the app’s share or save controls. Telegram lets owners restrict this, so the option can be missing on some channels.

Why can’t I save a video from some Telegram channels?

Group and channel owners can turn on Restrict Saving Content. Telegram says this restricts forwarding, prevents screenshots and limits the ability to save media from posts. Messages from secret chats cannot be forwarded either. If the option is missing, it is a deliberate setting. Ask the owner for the file.

When is Grabio the better choice?

Grabio is a free Apple Shortcut that opens a clean download site in Safari from a link you share to it. It is built for links on other platforms, so for a video already in your Telegram chat the app is simpler.

Video is in a chat or channel you are in Telegram’s own controls
Video is on another platform, and you have the link Grabio

Where do downloaded files end up?

A download through Safari goes to the Downloads folder in Files, as covered in the iPhone Downloads folder guide and where downloads go on iPhone. If a clip will not play, see how to download MP4 on iPhone.

Can I download a Telegram video without an app?

No, not for a video in your chat: saving it uses the Telegram app. For a link from another platform, Grabio needs only the free Shortcut, with no login.

Why is the Save option missing?

The owner of a group or channel can restrict saving, which limits the ability to save media from posts. Messages from secret chats cannot be forwarded.

Is it free?

Yes. Grabio is free, with no login. Getting the Shortcut asks for one email address, once.

Is there a size limit?

Telegram’s FAQ says files can be up to 2 GB each, or 4 GB with Premium.

Can I save a voice message the same way?

Not quite. See how to save a voice message on iPhone.
